South Carolina National Guard - Family Programs ImageThe Family Readiness Group (FRG) is a unit-level program consisting primarily of volunteers. The FRG is dedicated to helping Guard members and their families in times of peace and mobilization. This is accomplished by holding meetings, sending newsletters, e-mailing, and utilizing family "calling trees" to spread important information. FRG programs provide opportunities for both learning and recreation. These include Family Day open house events, summer picnics, youth camps, holiday meals, National Guard Family Team Building and mobilization readiness classes.

Belonging to a Family Readiness Group has numerous benefits. You get to know fellow family members and a sense of belonging.

If your unit is deployed you will know a group of people, experiencing the same things that you are experiencing, and who are there for you. You will get information on what's going on first hand. You will have a "new family" you can meet with and lean on for support. What a blessing all this can be!

We are here for you! Guard families are important to the security and well being of our great nation. If there is anything you need during this time, please call or contact a FRG director; even if you just need someone who will listen and understand what you and your family are going through.

To volunteer and get involved with your readiness group, call your unit or the State Family Programs Coordinator at 803.806.4200.
